Privacy statement
Renting out a car means we need some details from you. Below is exactly which ones, why we ask for them, how long we keep them and what you can do about it.
Who processes your data
Autoverhuur Lelystad, Koperstraat 11-13, 8211 AK Lelystad, the Netherlands, is responsible for processing your personal data. You can ask about this statement at info@autoverhuurlelystad.nl or +31 320 413 342.
What we process
When you make a reservation we ask for:
- your name and salutation
- your address, postcode and town
- your phone number and email address
- your date of birth, because a minimum age applies
- your driving licence number and its expiry date — this field is optional; you may also show it when you collect the car
- the rental itself: vehicle, pick-up and return moment and the options you chose
- if you pay in advance: the payment status our payment provider reports back. Your account number and bank details never reach our server.
Why we process them
- To carry out the rental agreement: record the reservation, confirm it to you and have the vehicle ready. Without these details we cannot rent to you.
- To meet legal obligations, such as our bookkeeping and retention duties.
- To measure how the site is used — but only if you allow it.
How long we keep them
The details you enter on this site are erased automatically once the reservation has been in our rental system for thirty days. After that they are no longer held by the website.
The reservation itself stays in our rental and accounting systems for as long as the rental agreement requires and for the statutory seven-year retention period that applies to our books.
Who we share them with
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only where that is necessary:
- with our own rental system, which imports the reservation
- with our payment provider Mollie, if you pay online in advance
- with the parties that run our website and email, who process the data only on our instructions
- with authorities we are legally required to inform, for example after a traffic offence in a rental car
How we protect them
The site runs entirely over a secure connection. Your date of birth and driving licence number are stored encrypted and appear neither in our log files nor in your confirmation email. Only staff who need to handle the reservation can see your details.
Cookies
We place two kinds of cookies. The first are needed to make the site work and are always set. The second measure how the site is used and appear only after you click "accept". If you click "decline", nothing is sent to Google — not even a request for the script itself.

You can change your choice at any time.
Your rights
You may ask us what data we hold about you, have it corrected, erased or its use restricted. You may also object to the processing and request your data in a readable file. Send your request to info@autoverhuurlelystad.nl and we will respond within a month. Bring proof of identity if you come by, so we know it is really you.
If we cannot resolve it together, you may lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Changes
If the way we handle your data changes, we update this statement. The date at the bottom shows when that last happened.
