Below is an overview of our most important rules.

General

  • Booking and cancelling are free of charge up to 48 hours in advance, except for long-term rentals, by phone or email.
  • Half-day rentals are not available at weekends.
  • All rates on the website exclude fuel.
  • A half rental day runs from 08:00 to 13:00 or from 13:00 to 18:00.
  • A rental day equals 24 hours.
  • The weekend rate applies from Friday 17:00 to Monday 08:00.
  • A midweek runs from Monday 08:00 to Friday 18:00.
  • A week is a continuous rental period of seven days.
  • The deposit and the expected rental sum must be paid by debit card, credit card or cash. Please note: we charge 3% for credit card payments.
  • The original registration document, green card or eurovignette is only supplied on request.
  • You must always ask permission to extend the agreed rental period.
  • Smoking and pets are not allowed in our vehicles.
  • Our vehicles may be fitted with a track-and-trace system.
  • Autoverhuur Lelystad reserves the right to supply an equivalent or higher-class vehicle than the one booked.

Deposit per day

  • For vehicles in classes A to VD the deposit is € 500.00. This can be reduced to € 300.00 for € 4.00 per day.
  • For vehicles in classes VE to VPS the deposit is € 1,000.00. This can be reduced to € 500.00 for € 6.00 per day, or to € 300.00 for € 15.00 per day.

Collecting and returning the vehicle

  • The renter or driver must present a valid Dutch driving licence together with a passport or ID card, and must meet the rental company's conditions.
  • When collecting the vehicle, the renter pays a deposit in advance in addition to showing two forms of identification. The deposit is settled at the end of the rental period.
  • If the vehicle is not returned with a full tank, Autoverhuur Lelystad charges € 9.50 plus the cost of the fuel.

Responsibility and liability of the renter or driver

  • If the vehicle is returned outside opening hours, the renter remains liable for damage and theft until the vehicle has been taken in and the check-in form completed.
  • The renter must use the vehicle as intended and is liable for damage resulting from improper use.
  • The renter is responsible for regularly checking the technical condition of the vehicle, including oil and coolant levels, tyre pressure and changing a wheel after a puncture.
  • The renter is responsible for reporting technical faults immediately.
  • Damage to tyres caused by hitting an obstacle is at the renter's expense.
  • In the event of theft or embezzlement of the vehicle, the original documents and keys must be returned to the rental company within the agreed rental period. If they are not, the renter is liable for the market value of the vehicle.

Abroad

  • If you are travelling abroad you must tell us, and you are expected to hold travel insurance. Telling us matters in winter conditions, so that we can fit winter tyres. If you do not, you may be held partly liable for damage even if you did not cause it.

Excluded from insurance and at the renter's full excess

  • The excess per claim is € 500.00. For windscreen damage the excess is € 250.00.
  • By way of exception, a permanently increased excess of € 1,500.00 applies to consumers and € 5,000.00 to non-consumers, per incident, for damage caused by collision with the part of the vehicle more than 1.90 metres above the ground, or with objects attached to the vehicle at that height — so-called overhead damage (see also the BOVAG rental conditions). This increased excess cannot be reduced or bought off.
  • Damage resulting from embezzlement, alcohol use, transporting substances covered by the Dangerous Goods Transport Act, theft following culpable carelessness, exceeding the payload, and overloading the tail lift.
  • Damage caused by a driver who does not hold a valid driving licence.
  • Damage occurring in a country we consider high-risk. See which countries we consider high-risk.
  • Damage resulting from failure or incorrect directions from navigation equipment.
  • Insurance of any towed vehicle is always at the renter's expense.
  • Damage must always be reported within 24 hours by submitting a fully completed and signed European accident statement together with a police report.
  • The cost of repairing vandalism and extreme soiling is charged directly to the renter.
